We visited Křivoklát Castle on a small side-trip from Beroun. It is one of the oldest castles in the Czech Republic, though it spent most of its time being used as a prison. King Charles IV prefered not to use it as his personal castle since he was imporsoned here as a child. Due to the bad memories of this place, he chose instead to build something that would carry his name and constructed Karlštejn not too far away.
